Asparagus starting!!

Two years ago we planted asparagus.
We didn't pick any last year.
This year, there is enough to pick, and here it is!

We were surprised at how much sweeter fresh-from-the-garden asparagus is.

Mmmmmm.

Daffodils have peaked.

We have had an unseasonably warm spring.

The daffodils have peaked about 10 days earlier than normal.
They are just lovely.

I picked eleven different ones from the side yard and the hosta gardens.

There are more in the south gardens.

Gotta love spring!

April planting

Happy Spring!
The unseasonably warm weather has brought out the daffodils sooner than usual.
And the bugs!
If you look closely, you can see a brown spider.

Some of the trees arrived today. D planted elderberries, cherries, and raspberries.
This is the row of 12 raspberries - two different kinds.
He is pretty proud of his composted horse manure, which is piled up by the owner of the horse farm across the street.

Lettuce and spinach have started sprouting.
We harvested horseradish last month and ground it.
It was fun, but boy did I cry!

We replanted some of the tops - probably didn't need to, though, since some are very happy pushing up through the spinach seeds!

We were tickled to see that some pansies overwintered.
They are little ones.

Happy Easter!
It's been a lovely stretch of weather, with two days in the 80s. That has brought out some flowers earlier than usual. There are early tulips.

Also, two kinds of daffodils.

Even the weeds are attractive.
